Who we are
We are sailors who love to cruise around the Chesapeake Bay and beyond. We’re a club of boat owners that keep our boats in and around Talbot County, MD. While many members are racers, our club’s focus is overnight cruises with our sailing friends to explore the anchorages and marinas up and down the bay. While some members are relatively new to cruising, others have many years of experience. We have no brand, style, length, or hull restrictions, so all sailboats are welcome.
What we do
We plan multiple cruises every year, some a day or two, some a week or more. We take turns leading a cruise during the year. Most of our members try to participate in a least a couple of the cruises each sailing season. We also have been known to stay overnight at a marina, depending on the length and focus of the cruise. We have a lively social life together as well. At anchor, we typically enjoy a 5pm cocktail hour on the cruise captain’s boat. And we have a variety of “land cruises,” such as museum tours, an oyster hatchery visit, and the annual Commodore’s picnic.
Why we do it
We love both sailing and the fellowship. We like dropping an anchor, tying up together after a nice long sail and socializing with good people. We learn about new anchorages, about the bay, and sailing. The key words that drive us are: enjoyment, laid back, and safety.
